The price of this vacuum is a fraction of the price of a Dyson machine however. Dyson machines will cost easily 4 – 500 bucks, whereas the Shark Navigator NV22L is only retailing at about 150 bucks. While we are making a decent saving with this machine we need to highlight some of the negatives to make this a fair review.

Firstly, as with the vast majority of bagless vacuums, you will have to empty the canister outside or run the risk of getting dust and grime not just in your face but all over the kitchen. I made the terrible mistake of thinking that this machine would be OK. It’s not. You will have to make sure to go outside for emptying, which isn’t nice in winter. Also there is the issue with the placement of the motor exhaust. Because the location of the exhaust is so low down and coming out of the front of vacuum, it blows away light rubbish such as pet hair and dust, stopping your from cleaning effectively. This is only an issue when you use the vacuum on hardwood or tile, but still well worth a gripe.

The Dyson DC28 Animal is a vacuum that is designed for well, animals. Or rather getting their hairs off the sofa. If you have ever had an issue with your vacuum cleaner not be able to get the hairs and dirt off your furniture in a decent amount of time, then I strongly recommend you continue reading this review of what I believe is very possibly the best vacuum cleaner that you can currently buy.

First, let’s take a look at some of the product features. There is a motorized brushbar, which has actually been designed for getting rid of pet hairs. Then there is the trademark Dyson “Root Cyclone Technology” which is the technology behind the Dyson’s super powerful, consistent suction and the fact that these vacuums never lose suction and you don’t see clogging either. We also have the Air Muscle technology which combines 3 cleaner head technologies. I agree with some other reviewers that this can make the vacuum a little bit awkward to maneuver in the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, you should have no problems at all.

The HEPA system with this vacuum needs some special praise. The air that the Dyson DC28 pumps out is so clean, that it actually has less mold than normal air. In fact it can have up to (depending on how recently you cleaned it, I would suppose) 150 times less mold. It has also been certified by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation as being “Asthma and Allergy” friendly.

There are 4 different height options with this Dyson machine, the lowest setting is for “barefloor” cleaning, hardwoods, etc. The second height is “low pile, then “medium pile” and lastly “high pile”. I would recommend that you use medium pile most of the time on “medium carpets”, but if you really feel that your carpet could do with a vigorous clean, then I might recommend that you try the lowest setting to get as much dirt as you like.

The tools that come with this vacuum are 4 in number. There is the Mini Turbine Head (which would cost you up to 70 dollars if bought separately). The Flat-Out Tool, ($50 if bought separately). The flat-out tool allows for cleaning underneath tables and the like to become much easier. Then there is the Crevice Tool which splits into two different tools; the stiff brush tool and the “soft” wide angled tool. The soft tool allows for you to clean delicate surfaced or furniture without risk of scratching or other damage.

My personal experiences with this vacuum have been that it is well worth the extra money that I paid for it. You could save yourself some cash and go for a cheaper model, but if you want to make sure that you are cleaning your carpets, furniture and house in general as best as you possibly can, then you can’t go wrong with this machine.

If you are looking for a vacuum cleaner that matches up to, but doesn’t quite have the same breath taking price tag as a Dyson vacuum cleaner, then I would like to strongly recommend this vacuum from Hoover. The Hoover UH70120 WindTunnel is a machine that comes with a wide array of features and functions, and I have recently had the pleasure of using this very nice piece of kit. In this short review I would like to detail my experiences with the Hoover UH70120 and talk about who I think it is most suitable for and why it matches up to the Dyson.

The price is the first thing I think we need to draw attention to. At about 100 dollars the Hoover machine comes in at about 25% the cost of the equivalent Dyson machine. Of course it is true that you can find Dyson machines a little cheaper, but in your average store you will see price tags soar about 400 dollars. So, I’ve established the price difference, but how do the features compare.

While I won’t deny, that you would be hard pushed to find a Dyson customer unhappy with the suction strength, I think that the Hoover WindTunnel technology has something to be said for it. Over the last few weeks that I have been using this machine I have seen very nice results getting dog hair off my sofa, I had been using a handheld for this task up until now, I’m very happy with the ease that this thing gets rid of those nasty hairs.

Some of the extra features that this machine has are the “cord-rewind” function, which means that even though the power cord is 27 foot long, the effort of wrapping it around the vacuum cleaner is taken out of the equation. The cord gets “rewound” back into the chamber for storing it. The only gripe that I might have with this vacuum is the fact that it is situated at the bottom of the vacuum so it can sometimes lead to the cord getting tangled underneath.

In conclusion then, I would like to recommend this as the perfect alternative to a Dyson vacuum cleaner. If you really do have 400 dollars plus to spend on a Dyson, then by all means, but for all of you out there on any kind of budget, this vacuum cleaner should meet up to any expectations you might have.

The Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner is a little bit on the expensive side it has to be said, but you won’t have to buy another vacuum cleaner for a good long while, to say the least. This Dyson DC25 comes with Ball technology for maneuvering the vacuum into those hard to reach places. It also comes with some pretty decent HEPA filtration which is even “certified asthma friendly”. Over the next paragraph I would like to detail my experiences with this vacuum, and go over why I think it is worth splashing the cash on this kind of vacuum cleaner.

The trademark Root cyclone technology that comes with Dyson machines is pretty special feature that you just cannot find on other vacuum cleaners. This is because the cyclone technology was created by James Dyson over 30 years ago and has been patented to stop rival companies mimicking the technology. When it comes to actually vacuuming the difference that you see when vacuuming with a Dyson vacuum cleaner is amazing, it can suck some serious gunk out of your carpet. The first time I used a Dyson on my carpets I was surprised at the amount of dirt that came out.

The Ball that the Dyson machines use are pretty good as well, whereas with a standard vacuum you have to pretty much lift the entire vacuum off the ground during cleaning to get into corners, with a vacuum cleaner that can roll as easily sideways as it can forward, you’ll almost never want to go back to a non-balled vacuum.

The weight of this thing is outstanding, at just 12 pounds you won’t have any problems at all carrying it upstairs, or storing in an upper shelf in your closet. I have had Dyson machines in the past that have been almost 3 times the weight of this vacuum, and so there was always the huge hassle of dragging it up the stairs to the second level.

One slight negative that I might mention about this machine is the stair cleaning attachment not quite being as big as it could be. I have seen a slightly larger attachment for sale separately that could do the job, but the attachment that comes with this machine does make doing the stairs slightly more awkward than it could have been. Also carrying the entire vacuum up the stairs as you go is not really an option as it is too big.

Overall I would say that this vacuum cleaner is well worth the extra cash that you might spend on it. For me, the loss of suction with bagged carpet cleaners is too much to take, I hate having to stop midway through vacuuming to clean the bag, even when it’s a fresh bag. This isn’t a problem with a Dyson vacuum. If it’s out of your budget range, you could look at an older Dyson as an alternative. Even a second hand is worth taking a look at.

This Hoover Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright UH300 vacuum cleaner review is of a pretty special piece of kit, it matches up to the power of commercial model machines but it provides all the features that you would expect of a normal retail vacuum cleaner. This vacuum provides a great way to clean carpets and is very good at cleaning the carpet on your stairs. There are a few cons that this machine has, but I will get to them later. First I will go over some of the things that I have found to be most enjoyable about this vacuum cleaner.

The Power cord might seem like a superficial feature, but it’s not just the length of the cord that is good with this vacuum, but also the position. The vast majority of vacuum cleaners that I have owned in the past have had the cord coming out of the bottom, but this machine has it coming out of the top, which means that you don’t have to worry about going over the cord with the vacuum.

The HEPA system that comes with this unit is also really great, the air that comes out of the vacuum, no matter how dirty your carpet might is always as fresh as can be. I have not had any bad experiences with this so far.

There is also a brilliant auto height adjustment on this machine, which means that you will not have to continuously stoop down to adjust the height of the vacuum, the auto adjustment here works wonderfully, so you can glide worry free over rugs of all different heights.

The vacuum is excellent at cleaning carpets, and I would thoroughly recommend this vacuum to those people who mainly have carpets in their houses. However because there is no function to turn off the brush part of the vacuum, this may not be the best option for those with a lot of hardwood flooring.

The Lifetime LED headlight is brilliant as well, having an LED seems to make this a much better head light. You can expect this to be much better than headlights that use standard bulbs. There is also a Lifetime belt with this vacuum cleaner so you won’t have to worry about replacing the belt, and that nightmare situation where the belt goes during an important cleaning session.

There are a couple of negative points that I could mention about this vacuum as well, there is the fact that the motor exhaust seems to be ejected near the stair cleaning handle. So it could be a good idea to clean your stairs first. As mentioned above no option to remove the brush, so not good for hardwood flooring. Also but perhaps least importantly the bags for this machine are a little bit on the expensive side, you will have to pay about 5 bucks per bag, but seeing as these bags are larger than the standard vacuum bag, you probably won’t be spending any extra money in the long term.

Hello and welcome to this review of the Euro-pro Shark S3501 Deluxe Steam Pocket Mop. Over the course of the next page or so I would like to try and bring you all up to speed with this machine and hopefully allow you to reach the stage where you can confidently decide whether this is the machine for you or if you could well be better looking for a slightly cheaper mop.

I want to start by going over the pros of this machine and close with a brief run through of the cons, because in this reviewers opinion there aren’t really that many. If you were to compare this mop to a lot of the other mops that you can find at the moment you might think that it is a little expensive and I do agree that paying over 100 dollars for a mop “seems” expensive. But you are definitely getting something pretty special here with this. The water tank is clearly larger than its rival mops, and because of this we get a longer time able to use the steam function.

It also has a longer cord, a full 30 foot cord here and while this is seemingly just a superficial point, the fact that it has plenty of length on the cord means that we can use this machine without an extension cord and cut out the time needed to plug and unplug the extension. The cleaning cloth covers the entire head, and because we can flip the head we can mop for longer without having to change the cloth.

The initial setup of the machine is very easy and I don’t think many people will even need to read the user manual when setting up this mop. The overall construction of the unit is reasonable, although I do think that the plastic used could have been a little stronger, while this should have a pretty decent lifespan it could have been extended some.

The fact that it cleans so well across the majority of household surfaces is what attracted me to this mop in the first place. Before, while I could use my mops for cleaning the hardwood no problem at all, I had to use sponges to properly clean the tiles in the kitchen, the mops just wouldn’t get down into the cracks properly, this mop will.

In conclusion, I would say that even though this mop is a little on the pricy side, I would say if you are after a steamer mop that can do it all, this well could be the mop for you.

Hello and welcome to this review of the Hoover Tempo Widepath Upright Vacuum U5140-900. Over the course of this review I would to introduce the key issues affecting this machine and hopefully allow you all to reach a point where you can confidently decide whether this is the machine for you or if you might better looking elsewhere for you vacuuming needs.

Well, I think the first thing that we need to mention is that Hoover have changed this vacuum cleaner. Prior to 2010 the machine that was being marketed under this name was a very different machine. In fact if you go to the Amazon.com website you can see a whole host of reviews for a machine with this exact name, but the truth of it is that they are all reviews of a different machine. This kind of information needs to be changed by Amazon.com immediately and in this reviewers opinion is borderline fraud.

The “new” machine has a whole host of features that have been made worse for some strange reason, most likely to make Hoover a little more money. I have no problem with people wanting to make more money, I like to do that myself. But when they are false advertising a product to that end I think it’s a little out of line.

Problems with the new machine are as follows; user manual same as before so incorrect now, no hose attachment dust cover anymore, no bag indicator (we keep having to stop and check to see how full the bag is), no headlight (a minor issue, but the amazon.com photo shows that this thing has one), generally worse construction with cheaper plastic, also the hose has been changed to a tackier version, the carpet brush as well.

All these issues do raise a lot of questions, and I think that this machine even though it ranks so highly on Amazon, only does so because of the previous version that was being sold, this new version, while not a bad machine in general is nothing special at all so I’m sure that you can find something a little better for your money.

There is pretty much the same amount of suction on this machine as there was on the older version, but a crappy carpet brush means that we don’t get deep enough into the carpet to see the same level of effectiveness.

My final word on this product is that, even though it’s not a bad vacuum cleaner, the simple fact that Hoover are almost trying to deceive us by changing the entire vacuum but keeping the same name, means that I am not interested in making a purchase whatsoever and I recommend strongly against buying this machine. Save your money and get something better.

Hello and welcome to this review of the Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Clean Surge F5914-900. Well it’s called a “steam” vac, but I suppose we shouldn’t be too upset when we find out that this machine doesn’t use any steam at all and the name is just a marketing ploy. This is not something that is restricted to one company so we can’t hold it against Hoover too much.

The overall construction of this carpet cleaner is really very good, and it seems to have a reasonably durable body. It is made almost entirely of plastic however and if you are not too careful with it there is a chance that you could end up snapping off some of the latches and compartment handles.

There have been a lot of reports of this machine leaking, and I while I have had it leak on me as well, I think it’s important to note that this can be avoided with just a thorough reading of the instruction manual. You need to squeeze the trigger firmly and make sure you push the Clean Surge button hard to ensure that a rod inside locks into place properly. Waiting for some kind of clicking noise is probably a good idea, but you should also make sure that all the compartments and different parts are lined up correctly to ensure that you get the vacuum seal. The bottom line on this point is that if you have leaking it’s not set up properly.

I know that in the past I have left the carpets in my house to go to the dogs (literally) for quite years, and when you have a carpet that is as dirty as my carpet was, I don’t think it’s too fair to assume that this machine (or any other for that matter) will be able to clean it that thoroughly in just one cleaning. It shouldn’t take more than 2 cleanings of the majority of carpets to get the carpet to a satisfactory cleanliness level though.

Another very nice little feature that this machine has is the ability to “dry” the carpet for you as well. If you are not sre when the carpet is completely dry, just check the water chamber to see when there is no longer any water being sucked up.

Welcome to this review of the Eureka 71-B Hand-Held Vacuum. What I’d like to do with this review is bring you the point where you can confidently decided whether this is the vacuum cleaner for you or not.

I think a lot of people looking for their next vacuum cleaner will undoubtedly be looking for a Dyson. I mean let’s face it, Dyson’s are the bomb. But they are most definitely the bomb at a price. While I would always recommend Dyson vacuum cleaners to my friends the recommendation would always come with a warning; you do so at a price. This article is about handheld vacuum cleaners and so I won’t mention how much you can pay for some of their machines, but I will talk about the handhelds and considering that this Eureka 71B costs less than 50 bucks the price in excess of 200 bucks for a dyson does being to seem a little pricy.

Anyway, moving on to some of the key features of this machine. While we wouldn’t be going too far to say that this machine is a little on the heavy, it more than makes up for it with suction power. This machine really can get rid of ALL the pet hair on your furniture. You might have tried adhesive rollers, or even the rubber brushes to get rid of your pet hair, and with varying degrees of success. I personally have had some success with the rubber brushes, but it does take an absolute age to get it to a satisfactory condition. Now with this unit we can get rid of all that cat or dog hair in just a few minutes.

There are some other lovely features that this machine comes with; an extra long cord length which at 25 feet should be able to assist you very nicely in almost all of the tasks you will be performing with the Eureka 71B vacuum. The Riser Visor nozzle cover is an excellent little feature, when the riser visor is in the normal position the roll of the brush is downwards and when you twist the cover downwards and expose the front of the brush it becomes very easy to vacuum walls and vertical surfaces, great for getting rid of dust and dirt.
